FACTS & FAQ’s

1999 - After the passing of Thomas G. Thompson Jr., the Anacortes Railway locomotive and three cars were removed from Anacortes and donated to the Georgetown Steam Plant museum for display and care.

2012 - After receiving a call from the Georgetown Steam Plant Museum, indicating they could no longer fulfill their plans, and could no longer store the train, Anne Thompson offered the train to the city of Anacortes, and requested assistance in relocating it. These efforts were celebrated and appreciated.

2019 - Bret Iwan presents the City of Anacortes with a purchase proposal.

2021 - The City of Anacortes City Council unanimously votes to return the train to the Thompson Family.

2021 - The Thompson family gifts the Railway to Bret Iwan.
